Book Club - May '23

Here we go.

Well, the book club idea was a hit with the people. Ask and ye shall receive. The way this is going to work is a bit like Oprah’s book club. I realized very quickly that there’s just way too many people involved for us to all agree on one book each month. So, unfortunately(or fortunately) for you, because I’m the head honcho here, what I say goes. So, each month, I’ll list four or five books that you can choose from. Read any from my list, or pick your own, it doesn’t matter to me. The point is to get you reading and engaging with a group of people who are excited to talk about the same thing.

And, yes, I do know that May is nearly halfway over. There’s still plenty of time to read at least one book over the next nineteen days.

Here’s the book choices for May:

4. The Dog Stars - Peter Heller

5. The Ruins - Scott Smith

As you can tell, the theme here is post apocalyptic and horror. I tend to read what I'm writing and currently I'm caught in the middle of these two genres. Also, keep in mind that this isn’t solely a horror book club. While there will probably be at least one horror option each month, I’d like to give everyone a variety so that you are discovering new things. This just happened to be how things panned out this month.

Remember, if nothing from this list excites you, pick something else! Whatever you want! Like I mentioned in the Discord, this shouldn’t suck and it shouldn’t be hard. If you’re not meshing with one book, switch to something else. Life is too short, and reading is too big of a commitment, to read something you’re not enjoying.
