Alright, here we go. Round two.
It seems like people really enjoyed the selections for last month, so I’m hoping to keep the trend going. This time we’ve got a bit more variety than last month.
Flowers for Algernon - Daniel Keyes
Salem’s Lot - Stephen King
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane - Neil Gaiman
Cabin at the End of the World - Paul Tremblay
Recursion - Blake Crouch
If you’re still digging horror, go for Cabin At The End Of The World or Salem’s Lot.
Cabin At The End Of The World wasn’t originally on this list! After reading, I found myself so caught up in the story that I felt it would be a good addition this month. Enjoy it, it’s a ride.
I’ve never read any of Gaiman’s work, but have wanted to for a long time. This is my jumping off point for him. The book comes highly recommended, and it seems to be a bit more fantasy oriented. If that’s your thing, this book may be for you.
Recursion is such an interesting story and one that I think is a great follow up to Dark Matter. It still lives in a sci fi world but also has an incredible love story at it’s heart. I was surprised at how touched I was reading this.
Flowers for Algernon is a bit of a wild card here. I threw this on the list because it’s one of those stories that stays with you. I read it five or six years ago and still think about it every once in a while. It’s an incredible look at trauma, humanity and the way we treat people. And I think, as a general human being, it’s important to read at some point during your life.
That’s that! Have at it! Hope you enjoy!
So excited!! I probably sound like a broken record at this point but thank you again for starting the book club and the Discord server in general. I've been enjoying the newfound community and seeing the talent & passion everyone has for art, regardless of the medium!
Thank you Ricky! From Gaiman I highly recommend you to read Neverwhere is a very good book and I'm sure you'll like it a lot. ✨
