This is funny because I don't know how many times I've done this and thought I was going to turn on the light and see a spider (I'm terrified of spiders). I 100% feel this and honestly I'm so happy I don't wake up much in the middle of the night anymore haha. That shit is freaky.

Finally! Someone understands this, too many times a mark or 'bug' puts fear in me, I hate all bugs BTW, so put my glasses on; its a bit of cat food (she likes spreading the love to mark her territory) Very rarely is it a spider or something equally horrific.

Ps I was going to have a nap but now checking for spiders. Thank you Mr Olsen! You can tell when someone reads a lot. Their writing evolves is very descriptive. Thank you for posting, I'm inspired to try writing...

Been there, except mine was a set of glowing eyes. Just about had a coronary sitting on the toilet. Fucking cat. 😂

I blame their cute little faces. Mine does this sassy bum wiggle, she's insane! Try not to squish cat, vets bills are astronomical!

Oh man, my vision sucks, especially at night so it's always a gamble on what I'm going to "see." Especially having two cats.

The most recent scare I've had was about two months ago my husband and I got into a really bad car accident and someone sent us this comically large helium balloon, during the day it's fine, whatever, I KNOW it's a balloon shaped like a leaf. But at night, especially when it would move slightly, I just assumed it was an intruder or some sort of malicious spirit.

It's definitely reassuring to see there are many of us who get spooked by silly things in the dark.

Poor vision, cats, helium balloons- I’m with you on all three! The vision is the biggest disadvantage. I hope your husband fully recovered.

It's crazy how our brain makes up the creepiest stuff when we're tired. I woke up once in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, but as i was struggling to get out of bed i saw a girl's corpse with a broken spine sitting in my armchair (at least that's what my brain thought it was...). Immediately covered myself with my blanket and kept my eyes shut until the morning. Turns out it was just my sweater but I swear that night felt like an episode of The Haunting of Hill House.

Oh gawd what have you done! I was so into the narrative then I’m left hanging on a cliff. I’m officially a fan of your writing. It’s the natural flow of words and how they engage you that got me trapped in your world. As I mentioned before, one of my writing genres is horror so I’ll read you to keep the inspiration flowing. Do you post whenever you feel like it or whenever you have time?

I appreciate that, Aliza. Thank you. Nice! Horror is tough. Or, rather, I should say suspense is tough. I'd like to post weekly to help keep myself accountable for creating this page. It also helps to think about you guys. I want to continue to create content for the people who enjoy reading it. Currently, I'm immersed in a whole other, very large, writing project right now. So, I'm doing the best I can here, when I have time!

For me it’s a challenge because my strength in writing is drama. I ventured off to Horror/thriller-suspense because I had a wave of inspiration on this genre. It’s fun tho. I’m watching the Scream series (didn’t know there was one) and I found the dialogue entertaining so I’m picking up from here and there.

Now everything is algorithms. The upside of substack is that it notifies you through email. Would love to read more of you! Thanks for sharing your World.

And I’m intrigued…👀

Ricky you are such a great narrator, you really got me. I can stand spiders if they are on a prudent and reasonable distance from me, but if they are on my face I would lost my shit c:
